What this tool does
Join Photo turns two separate photographs into a single passport photo of both people. Forms that ask for a joint photograph - husband and wife on a bank or property application, two brothers on a land record - normally mean a trip to a studio to be photographed together. This tool takes the two pictures you already have, cuts each person out, matches the size of their heads, sets both on one eye line, and places them side by side on a single regulation background.
How to use it
- Drop the first person's photo on the left and the second on the right.
- Wait while each is cut out. The first photo of the session downloads the AI model, so it takes a little longer than the ones after it.
- Choose the photo size - 35 x 45 mm is the usual Indian passport size, and there are wider joint formats for forms that ask for them.
- Pick the background colour, then adjust Head size, Spacing and Eye line until the pair sits comfortably in the frame.
- Use the Nudge controls, or just drag a person in the preview, to fine-tune either one on their own.
- Set the sheet and number of copies, then print or download.
Why the two people match
The hard part of a joint photograph is that the two originals are almost never taken from the same distance, so one head comes out larger than the other and the result looks pasted together. This tool measures each face and scales the two photographs independently until the crown-to-chin head heights are equal, then pins both faces to the same horizontal eye line. Two pictures taken years apart on different phones still line up.
Adjusting each person
Head size, Spacing and Eye line move both people together. When only one needs correcting, choose Person 1 or Person 2 under Nudge and use the Left/Right, Up/Down and Size sliders, or drag that person directly in the preview and scroll to resize them. Swap sides exchanges their positions, and Re-align puts everything back to the automatic starting point.
Background and finishing
Both subjects are cut out with a portrait matting model that keeps hair edges soft rather than cutting a hard outline, then placed on one shared background so there is no seam between them. White, light blue, blue, grey and red are one click away. If a pale halo shows around either person, raise Edge trim. Sharpening runs on the photographs before they are cut out, so the flat background stays clean.
Printing
Sizes are held in millimetres and rendered at 300 or 600 DPI, so a 35 x 45 mm joint photo really measures that on paper. Copies pack from the top left corner of the sheet, leaving the rest of the paper in one piece for the next job. Print at actual size with any fit-to-page option turned off.
Nothing is uploaded
Both photographs are read, cut out and combined inside your own browser. No image is sent to a server at any point, which matters when you are handling other people's documents at a counter.
